Mike frequently has appeared as a volunteer speaker at local high schools as part of his participation in the "Lawyers in the Classroom" Program sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association.
Mike is commencing his sixth year voluntarily serving as legal advisor and assistant coach for the Mock Trial team at Maine West High School.
Mike has assumed an active role in his adjunct faculty union at Roosevelt University ("RAFO"). He has served as a member of the union bargaining team that negotiated the last three collective bargaining agreements with the administration; and was elected to serve as the RAFO delegate at the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 Illinois Education Association Regional Assembly Conference. He also serves as RAFO representative on the local Region 67 Council of the Illinois Education Association.
Mike serves as a volunteer mediator in small claims and landlord-tenant cases involving pro se (unrepresented) parties in the Circuit Court of Lake County.
As part of his Federal Trial Bar commitment, Mike has represented plaintiffs on a pro bono (for no fee) basis, in two employment discrimination cases brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
